We recognize that many of our couples, and their families, are not local to our area. We have curated a list of things to do, eat, and see while you’re here! Whether you’re only in town for an afternoon, or a whole week, we hope you enjoy your time in our little corner of the world. 

  • Cedar Oaks Farm is located in the small town of Bedford, VA. Our wedding venue is only about 15 minutes to our sister company, Ashley Grace Bridal - located in Forest.
  • Cedar Oaks is approximately 30 minutes from the city of Lynchburg. Our college town has grown into a bustling area with many thriving businesses. We hope you have the chance to explore the area while you’re here! 
  • The Lynchburg airport is only about 25 minutes from our secluded venue.
  • Cedar Oaks is about 45 minutes from Roanoke, VA and 1.5 hours from Charlottesville.

  • Less than 10 minutes from Cedar Oaks, we recommend checking out Beales which is known for their local beer and delicious food. Also in Bedford, you can also grab a bite to eat at the infamous Liberty Station.
  • Some of our other favorite local spots include Benjamins, Bräuburgers, Neighbor’s Place and Iron & Ale.

  • Kinship Roasters, located right beside Ashley Grace Bridal in Forest. 
  • The Muse - A Lynchburg staple, located in the Wyndhurst community

Downtown Lynchburg:

  • Our area has plenty of accommodations nearby for you and your loved ones to comfortably stay while they travel for your wedding. Whether you get an airbnb in Bedford, rent a lakehouse at Smith Mountain Lake, or decide to stay at a hotel in the city of Lynchburg, there are plenty of lodging options for you and your guests.
  • The Virginian is a beautiful hotel in Downtown Lynchburg. This hotel conveniently has a rooftop bar and restaurant to host any celebratory meals before or after your wedding day. This hotel is within walking distance to many shops and restaurants. They even have a ballroom that may be available for your wedding rehearsal. 
  • Another popular downtown hotel is the Craddock Terry. They are known for their fine dining and convenient location. 

Things to Do:
  • Our area is surrounded by the beautiful and picturesque Blue Ridge Mountains. Cedar Oaks boasts one of the best views of the gorgeous Peaks of Otter. You can actually hike the Peaks of Otter (Sharp Top/ Flat Top mountain) or enjoy a scenic drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

  • Our area is filled with rich history. The National D-Day Memorial is located just a few miles from our venue. You can also visit Thomas Jefferson’s historic home at Poplar Forest.
  • For our golfers, we have many courses in the area. Two popular ones include London Downs and Ivy Hill. You can travel a little further and check out Mariners Landing Golf Club at Smith Mountain Lake.

Cedar Oaks adopted 3 Scottish Highland cows in Fall 2023 - named Rowdy, Hopscotch, and Buckaroo! They came from the Disenhouse farm here in Bedford and are loving their new life at Cedar Oaks.

  • Cedar Oaks has bee hives (managed by Bowyers Bees of Bedford) on the farm that produce several hundred pounds of honey each year. Bowers Bees and Honey have gift boxes of honey that make for great gifts! 

  • Every wedding day, each bride is greeted with a bouquet of beautiful fresh flowers in the bridal suite provided by our friends at the Little Otter Flower farm in Bedford.

  • Cedar Oaks Farm bales around 300 round bales of hay each year and donate a portion of that hay to help our friends at the Brookhill Horse Farm.
When we're not hosting weddings, Cedar Oaks donates their reception barn to deserving local non-profits for their events. Below are a list of some who have enjoyed our space!
